How ranking works
How ScapeList decides the order of the list.
The order of this list is set by a proprietary algorithm, built so that the sites with the most active communities rank highest.
A listing climbs when a lot of different people keep choosing it. Breadth is what the system looks for: many separate members of a community, active repeatedly over time.
So the most effective thing an operator can do is simple. Get as many different members of the community as possible to vote, every day. A wide spread of individual voters is worth far more than heavy activity from a handful of them, and no amount of repetition from a small group substitutes for it.
How the ordering is calculated is not published. A ranking whose formula is public is a ranking with a specification for gaming attached, which would serve the people the system exists to keep out.
